Seven new species will be delivered shortly to Kissir Park Zoo of Jijel (359km east of Algiers), said Sunday the park's managers. The new delivery, made up of three brown bears, two pairs of wolves, a pair of marsh cats, two pairs of coyotes, a pair of black swans, a male lynx and two pairs of sheldrakes, were given by the park zoo of Belgrade (Serbia). The donation is part of exchanges and cooperation between Jijel's park and Belgrade's. Kessir Park Zoo was inaugurated with the arrival of two pairs of wolves and brown bears.
Pens are being installed to receive the new animals in the park zoo, open to the public in July 2006.
More than 6,000 people are visiting Kissir Park Zoo a day.
A pair of slender-tailed meerkats, the latest to be delivered to the zoo, has drawn a large number of visitors.
