The Palestinians have denounced Sunday the "pre-conditions" set by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, asking them to recognize Israel as a "state of the Jewish people," saying they are "a drop" before negotiations begin. According to Wasil Abu Yousef, a member of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), "Netanyahu has already undermined direct negotiations that the Palestinians and Israelis should resume in early September. "The Palestinians reject any request by Israel to recognize it as a Jewish state," said Abu Yousef to the press. The PLO has accepted the resumption of direct talks with Israel after months of refusal.
