Algerian runners performed well in the marathon in Marseille on Sunday, snatching 3rd and 4th places this event which was attended by some 6000 competitors. Thus Chouireb Amor and Azzedine Sakhri won the 3rd and 4th places in the race with lap times respectively 2h24'45''2h27'43''and, behind the Frenchman Benoit Zwierzchiewski (2h19'39'') and Ethiopian Temam Hussein Mohammed (2h22'18''). Eighteen other Algerians have also taken part in this race. In the half marathon, Algerian Tarek Bouamer ranked second with a time of 1h13'10'', following Frenchman Christophe Brunerie who ran the distance in 1h10'06''.
