The President of the Constitutional Council, Kamel Feniche, accompanied by a member of this institution, is on an official visit to Luanda, Republic of Angola, to take part in the 12th session of the Executive Bureau of the Conference of African Constitutional Jurisdictions (CJCA), scheduled for 23 and 24 January, a statement of the Constitutional Council said Wednesday.

"This session will have to examine several items on the agenda, including proposals to amend the statutes of the CJCA, initiated by Algeria. These relate mainly to the creation of a consultative commission, as an organ of the CJCA to issue advisory opinions on constitutional and/or legislative issues at the request of States or the CJCA to electoral observation missions of the African Union from inside and outside Africa," the same source said.

"In addition to these two proposals, the Bureau will have to examine the nature of the relationship between the CJCA and the African Union," it adds.

During this visit, the President of the Constitutional Council will also hold talks with his counterparts in Luanda".

As a reminder, the CJCA was established in 2001 by decision of the African Union, on the proposal of Algeria, which hosts its headquarters and is thus an ex officio member of the Executive Bureau of the Conference. It currently brings together 45 African constitutional jurisdictions that are members as well as 3 other non-African observers", concludes the communiqué.
