A documentary film by Algerian director Lamine Merbah entitled "Africa, from darkness to light," has been screened on the sidelines of Algiers International Conference which was for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the resolution on the granting independence to colonial countries and peoples. The documentary produced by the Ministry of Culture in 2009, recalls the different historical stages of the occupation of Africa by European countries like France, Great Britain, Portugal and the looting of wealth the continent by the colonizers. It also shows touching scenes on slavery that affected the inhabitants of the continent as of the 15th century. Produced in two versions, Arabic and French, the film traces the most important popular revolutions of indigenous peoples against the colonial forces that have divided the continent and plundered its natural resources.
