The life and work of the great artist M'Hamed Issiakhem, to whom tribute was paid through an exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMA) were discussed Thursday during a roundtable. In his speech, art historian Nadira Laggoune gave an overview of the wealth of cartoons of Issiakhem, considering that studying them meticulously "help discover a dimension of the work that is particular." His cartoons are important works because they mark a moment in history and art history," she said, adding that there is a link between his pictorial and graphic activities, "this link is that of militancy." "This commitment continues after 1962 as shown in the posters produced for the theater of Kateb Yacine ‘ Palestine betrayed’ and ‘Mohamed take your bag’, '" said Laggoune who deplored the lack of research on the cartoons of 'Issiakhem.
