Late Mujahid Colonel Lakhdar Bentobal, died Saturday, will be buried Monday at Martyrs Square in Al Alia Cemetery (Algiers). The corpse of the deceased will be transported to the headquarters of the National Organization of Mojahedin as a final tribute will be paid.

Late Mujahid Colonel Lakhdar Bentobal, died Saturday, will be buried Monday at Martyrs Square in Al Alia Cemetery (Algiers). The corpse of the deceased will be transported to the headquarters of the National Organization of Mojahedin as a final tribute will be paid. Born in Mila in 1923, the deceased was engaged in political activity as a militant in the Algerian People's Party (PPP). After the Second World War he joined the Special Organization (OS) where he held several positions and began preparing operations in the Northern Constantine. After the dissolution of the OS in 1950, his name was included in the list of persons wanted by French police.
He joined the Group of 22 and after the outbreak of the Revolution, he was appointed head of the Military Region of Jijel, Ettahir, Al-Milia and Constantine.
He attended along with Zighoud Youcef representing Northern Constantine at Congress of Soummam.
There was also an alternate member to the National Council of the Revolution instead of Martyr Zighoud Youcef in 1956.
He was appointed Minister of the Interior of the first provisional government of Algeria for two consecutive terms in 1961 and then appointed Minister of State without portfolio.
Fire Bentobal participated in the second round of the Evian negotiations.
