Bachir Boumaza laid to rest at El-Alia cemetery
Former speaker of the council of the Nation Bachir Boumaza, passed away Friday in Switzerland, following a long illness, at the age of 82, was buried Sunday at the cemetery of El-Alia (Algiers).
The burial took place in the presence of Council of the Nation's Speaker Abdelkader Bensalah, Speaker of the People's National Assembly Abdelaziz Ziari, Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, Constitutional Council Chairman Boualem Bessaih and government members.
National political and historical figures, members of the deceased's family and friends as well as a large crowd attended the burial.
Minister of Moudjahidine (War Veterans) Mohamed Cherif Abbas declared Sunday here that the late Bachir Boumaza, will remain a model of activism and sacrifice in history. "He was a model of loyalty, attachment and defence for the country," he said in a funeral oration delivered before this activist of the national cause was laid to rest at El Alia cemetery of Algiers.
